Riding Trip to Bend Oregon
I'm new to the blog thing & could only get the one photo up (you need to squint to see my new red SyCip).
Anyway, Maria and I spent a week up in Bend, riding every day road or mtb (geez, it was like a training camp). Bend is a bike town. There are bikes everywhere - fixies, SS, big hit, road, tri, townies, cross. Did a couple of rides on the many legal single track trails that head out of town on my sweet new SyCip. Perfect single speed terrain, smooth single track that went on for ever (see the photo)! We just rode until we only had enough food left to get home, and then turned around.Rode the Cascade lakes loop on the road one day. A good straight 1.5 hrs of climbing at about 3% up Mt. Bachelor out of town.
Stumbled on the local Thursday nite cross race. Over 100 folks racing around a dusty circuit in town at 6 PM. For a town of 75K, that's a pretty good turnout!
We did a road trip over the Cascades on Friday and rode the MacKenzie River Trail (MRTR). Beautiful, but damm challenging on our hardtails. In fact, we rode with Chris Sheppard (ex-Haro pro) on Sat on the local hammer road ride, and he said that you want to ride MRTR with a 5" bike (he also told me about all the single track I should have rode - next time!).
